Lavender.  Loved for its fragrance, used in soaps, shampoos, bath soaks.  And, according to the University of Maryland Medical Center, it’s also a remedy for a range of ailments from insomnia to anxiety to depression and fatigue.  What better way to clean your house!

Save money and limit your exposure to chemicals with this homemade cleaner from Heidi at Happiness is Homemade.  Thanks, Heidi.  It works well on bathroom fixtures and countertops, and smells much better than straight vinegar!

Here’s what you need to make this DIY household cleaner:

  1. Cleaning vinegar – slightly more acidic than regular vinegar (6% acidity compared to 5%).
  2. 32 oz. spray bottle.
  3. Water.
  4. Lavender Essential Oil.
  5. A funnel to easily pour into the spray bottle.

Directions:  In a 32 oz. spray bottle, mix equal parts of vinegar and water (16 oz. of vinegar and 16 oz. of water).  Add 70-80 drops of lavender essential oil and shake to combine.  Spray on surface and wipe with a soft cloth.  Polish with a dry cloth if necessary.
