Yesterday, I wrote a post on bike commuting. Today I am focusing on a sweet app that can motivate you to walk. Integrating walking into your routine for transportation is a game changer.
Now I’m not saying you have to walk everywhere, but when you need to get somewhere, first consider walking. Is it a walkable distance? If you are within a mile or two and you have a few extra minutes, walking is a great way to decrease your carbon footprint. Driving your car costs money, it burns gas (fossil fuel) and emits pollution. I try to ride my bike or walk whenever possible!
Now, on to the app: Every Body Walk. This app allows you to utilize your iPhone’s GPS to track your walks. It will show you your elapsed time, your calories burned, your distance, and it even allows you to upload your walk data and share it with your friends and family on Facebook and Twitter!
Every Body Walk is an extremely effective motivational tool too. It allows you to set goals before you head out on your walk and gives you a little structure. Just search Every Body Walk in the app store and you’ll find it. Also, it’s free so that’s an added perk. Let me know if anyone out there starts to use this app!
